FAQ

Plain answers before you scan.

SignalNest is designed around a useful first result, honest measurement language, and local-first storage. These answers mirror the current MVP product scope.

What does SignalNest help me do?

SignalNest helps you walk through a home or small space with an iPhone, collect repeated Wi-Fi experience checks, see strong and weak areas, and get a plain-language placement suggestion.

Does it replace a professional Wi-Fi site survey?

No. It is a consumer placement coach, not a replacement for Ekahau, NetSpot, Fluke, or enterprise RF planning tools.

What can the iOS app measure?

The MVP focuses on connection experience: speed estimates, latency, stability, sample count, and quality scoring. iOS limits access to low-level Wi-Fi details, so the product does not promise RSSI, channel, noise, or BSSID access.

Where is my scan data stored?

The MVP is local-first. Scan history, room labels, sample points, and comparison results are stored on the device by default, not in a cloud reporting backend.

Is SignalNest a subscription?

The first commercial plan is free plus a one-time $1.99 Pro upgrade. The free app should still let you complete a useful scan, see a basic summary, and read at least one recommendation.

What does Pro add?

Planned Pro benefits include unlimited local scans, more history, multiple spaces, advanced before-and-after comparison, unwatermarked image reports, and more detailed router or mesh guidance.
